Mountain Pass League Meet #1.
Your THS Titans competed in the first league meet which consists of Hemet, West Valley, Citrus Hill, San Jacinto, and Beaumont High School. The boys and girls each got a taste of where they stand in the League, and now have an idea of what they need to improve on.
THS Boys Step it Up at Hemet Invitational.
The Tahquitz boys team did an amazing job at the Hemet Invitational on September 22nd. Such an amazing job in fact, that school records were set. Junior Art Hernandez accomplished a personal best of 16:47. His hard work over the summer is really starting to show. As one of the team captains this year Art is really trying to lead by example, and give it his all at every practice and race. The other members of the boys team did a remarkable job, with most of them also setting new personal bests. This is going to be a growing season for the boys, and they are all looking forward to improving their times throughout the year.
PASTA NIGHT!
As an annual tradition the THS XC team had a bonding pasta night in order to fill up on carbohydrates for the meet that was to follow the next day. It was a really fun time filled with swimming, telling stories around the campfire, and participating in Gatorade chugging contests! What a night to remember!
Norte Vista Invitational Season Opener
The Titan cross country team ran in the Norte Vista Invitational on September 8th, the first meet of the season. However the road there wasn't so easy. The XC bus broke down after drving for approximetly 20 min. The bus driver believed that the engine was blown, and gas fumes were puring out of the bus. After having to pulll over and call for another bus, runners were forced to stay on the bus and smell in those horrible fumes. Finally a second bus arrived and the Titans proceeded to the meet, after they were all checked by the Emergency Medical Response Team. They didn't let the ride there stop them from performing. Almost everyone placed high enough to recieve a medal, and a lot of personal bests were set.
THS XC Works over Labor Day!
While most people got to sleep in over the 3 day weekend, our Titan cross country team woke up early Monday morning for a work out session. They met up at the Diamond Valley soccer fields, and they ran the 2012 Mountain Pass League course. This allowed freshmen and any other newcomers to get a taste of what they should be expecting this season. Junior Art Hernandez was especially eager to get a feel of this course, having had missed out last season because of an injury, he was never able to run it. The Titans are continuing to work hard and are hoping for a successful season.
